Cellulite and pregnancy
September 21, 2007
Cellulite, the dimply fat that accumulates on our hips and thighs, seems to hit women the hardest during puberty and while pregnant. You will find that your cellulite will decrease somewhat after you give birth, but what can you do while you are pregnant? Can you prevent it?
While it may be impossible to totally prevent it, you can minimize the amount of cellulite you have by eating a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and proteins and drinking lots of water.

After getting the clearance from your doctor, maintain a low-impact exercise program throughout your pregnancy. Aerobic activities, such as walking or swimming, are a great way to increase your circulation and firm those problem spots. Try to incorporate a strengthening program into your routine using light weights.

Avoid using anti-cellulite or slimming creams during pregnancy because they often contain chemicals (retinols, for one) that are not safe for moms-to-be. Look for all-natural moisturizes, with ingredients like cocoa butter, to keep your skin smooth.
