It's cranberry time! Not only are these tangy little bites great in breads and sauce, they also make a tasty juice that's good for you, too. Cranberry juice has been shown to help prevent urinary tract infections, which are of particular concern during pregnancy. In fact, the National Kidney Foundation recommends drinking plenty of fluids daily, including a large glass of cranberry juice, because it has been shown to help prevent E. coli bacteria from attaching to urinary cells (which can lead to infection). Cranberries also are high in fiber, provide a lot of vitamin C and are a yummy source of vitamin A, vitamin B, calcium, phosphorus and iron.
