That hits the spot: Sports Drinks
by Nancy and Betsy

Does your workout make you sweat? In addition to water, you might want to reach for a sports drink. "Sports drinks, such as Gatorade, are very effective at keeping us hydrated," says family physician and mom of three Jane Forester, D.O. "When you’re pregnant, water doesn't always go where it's needed - sometimes it just bloats, rather than hydrates." Gatorade, Powerade and other similar drinks contain electrolytes (such as sodium, potassium and chloride) that help replace these vital substances lost in sweat. Plus, the combination of sucrose, glucose and fructose provides energy. Other beverage tips: Steer clear of carbonated or caffeinated beverages, and drink before you feel the need.
