I advise pregnant women to start by identifying their three favorite pre-pregnancy pieces -- you know, those items that you just can't seem to live without. Then finding similar styles/colors in maternity versions when shopping or scanning friends' maternity clothes.

I also suggest choosing a few neutral basics which will mix and match and make your purchases as efficient as possible.

Once you have your core basics, you can add fun colors and prints to give you a lift on those days when you are not feeling your best!

Know that most women buy some maternity clothes in their fourth month, sixth month and eighth month... so don't think you have to buy an entire new wardrobe at the beginning of your pregnancy. You will probably need a few things later on to either perk you up or for a special event.

Just because you are pregnant doesn't mean you have to lose your sense of self and style. You can still dress like you!
