Water workouts are always a great idea and, says ACE-certified prenatal and postnatal fitness specialist Lisa Stone, "Exercising in water is especially wonderful later in pregnancy, when your additional weight puts pressure on your joints and ligaments. The buoyancy of the water can be a big relief to an aching back, pelvis, and knees." Even if you're not a swimmer, you can get a thorough workout! After getting the sign-off from your caregiver, check around for water aerobics (or even water yoga) classes in your community. If you're on your own, you might try water walking or jogging, wall exercises, and water flexibility training.
